London Against Gun and Knife Crime Working in partnership to reduce and prevent violence associated with gangs in London |

Be Safe - Weapons Awareness workshops for young people and adultsProject aims: To deliver workshops to young people in Hackney, with the aim of providing realistic information, raising awareness and generating further discussion on gun and knife-related issues affecting young people. Lead organisation: LB Hackney Community Safety Team. Client group: Young people aged 13-19 and their families, carers, teachers, parents, learning mentors, classroom assistants, youth workers and Haggerston Youth Inclusion Project workers. Programme delivery: The project takes place in secondary schools, community centres, estates and Hackney Community College. The workshops cover a variety of issues including prison sentences for weapons-related offences, self-defence, weapons-related injuries and examining the reasons why many young people carry weapons.
