Operation Blunt

Project Aims: Operation Blunt is a pan-London knife crime initiative which aims to reduce the number of knives on London's streets. The operation aims to arrest offenders and those carrying knives on the streets, whilst raising awareness about the severe consequences carrying knives such as being physically hurt, arrested or convicted.

Lead Organisation:Metropolitan Police Service (MPS)

Programme Delivery:Operation Blunt was launched by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) in November 2004. The operation focuses on the preventative element of anti-crime knife work, particularly knife amnesties, high profile community reassurance in high knife crime areas, educating young people in schools to deter them from knife crime and community engagement.

Client Group:Young people at risk of committing knife crime.

Funding: £27,000 from the Recycled Criminal Assets Fund, Government Office for Londo
