Fourth Plinth Schools Awards 2013
Welcome to this year's annual Schools Awards, a chance for schools to get creative and produce a work of art inspired by contemporary art commissions past and present for the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square.
There will be prizes for first, second and third and as ever the winning entry from each London borough will appear in an exhibition at City Hall, opening on 23 April 2013.
This year's prizes are sponsored by Reeves, manufacturer of quality fine art materials including colour paints, sketching pencils, Paint by Numbers and Scraperfoil. Reeves provide guidance to artists and make arts accessible for all from children and crafters to artists.
This year's competition was judged by Gregor Muir, who is Executive Director of the Institute for Contemporary Arts (ICA).
He looked for outstanding works of art of the highest quality which are:
- An exciting idea;
- Visually impressive;
- Encourage people to think about the location in Trafalgar Square and London more generally.
