Leading tourist attractions London 2008
Of London’s top tourist attractions that publish data, the most popular is the British Museum, followed by Tate Modern and The National Gallery. All of the top five tourist attractions are free to visit.
Passengers carried by Underground line
The Northern line is the busiest in terms of passenger numbers
carrying almost 207 million passengers each year, closely followed by the District line on
199 million.
Population by country of birth London 2007/08
Outside of the five million that were born in the UK, London’s next highest
population by country of birth is almost 210,000 from India – almost double the number of the next three
countries, Ireland, Poland and Bangladesh.
Football Stadium attendances London 2008/09
Arsenal is way ahead in terms of average attendances, thanks to the capacity of the Emirates Stadium. Chelsea and Tottenham take second and third places respectively, with West Ham and Fulham making up the top five. All the top five teams play in the English Premier League.
Cheapest average house prices
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the cheapest property in the capital is to be found in east London. Barking and Dagenham lead the way, closely followed by the neighbouring boroughs of Newham and Waltham Forest. Outer London areas dominate the list.
Most expensive average house prices
Kensington and Chelsea confirm its reputation as a right Royal borough with an average property costing over £700,000! Westminster and Camden come a distant second and third in a list dominated by central London areas, apart from the leafy suburb of Richmond in fifth.
