Applying for funding

How can I apply for funding?

Award of ERDF funding in London is competitive. Dates of the bidding rounds are announced in advance and the timescale for all bidding rounds is also published in the prospectus.  All activity has to be eligible to be funded but just because activity is eligible does not necessarily mean that the application will be successful.

Bidding rounds

There is no bidding round open at the moment. The fifth bidding round was closed on 21 October 2011. A total of 49 outline applications were received by EPMU and, following the appraisal process, 23 of them (requesting a total of £24.9m) were invited to submit a full application by 12 noon on 3 February 2012. The applicants who agreed having their details published can be found in the list below.

Who can apply for funding?

Any organisation that is legally constituted can develop proposals and apply for funding. Examples include:

  • local authorities
  • statutory or non-statutory public funded bodies
  • voluntary/community organisations
  • some private sector organisations (subject to eligibility rules and state aid compliance).

Please note: ERDF is not paid directly to profit-making private sector organisations. It is deemed that public funding (ERDF) is not required as the organisation can be supported by its profit. Private companies limited by guarantee are eligible. Private organisations limited by shares are not eligible but can act as strategic partners or match-funders to a project.

Potential applicants should, in the first instance, view the Operational Programme document to see if their idea is coherent with the Programme’s aims and is covered by the Programme’s priorities. Then check other specific information regarding selection criteria and timescale available in the prospectus for each bidding round.
Applicants can send any queries to erdf@london.gov.uk
