‘The time for simply talking about electric vehicles is over - we need real action on the ground to make the electric vehicle an easy choice for Londoners.’ The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson
Electric vehicles offer a clean, green and economical alternative to petrol and diesel powered transport. There are currently 1,700 electric vehicles being used in London, a figure the Mayor wants to boost to 100,000 (or five per cent of the capital’s fleet) as soon as possible.
Delivery Plan
The Mayor’s Electric Vehicle Delivery Plan for London sets out key targets.
100,000 electric vehicles on the capital’s streets as soon as possible.
25,000 charging spaces in London’s workplaces, retail outlets, streets, public car parks and station car parks by 2015.
At least 1,000 Greater London Authority fleet electric vehicles by 2015.

Charging points
The Mayor has committed to work with the boroughs and other partners to deliver 25,000 charge points across London by 2015. The Draft Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Strategy sets out detailed plans to deliver this network.
