London's Wasted Resource

Closing Date:
14 January, 2011

The Mayor wants a step change in the way both Londoners and the city’s businesses manage their waste, a change that will see London lead the way into a more efficient future. This means revolutionising our cultural norms; from our consumer and producer choices through to how we dispose of the waste we necessarily create, all the way down to how it is eventually treated.

The Mayor’s draft Municipal Waste Management Strategy

The Mayor’s draft Business Waste Management Strategy

Waste management, although perhaps not the sexiest issue is something that affects everyone – it has both widespread economic and environmental implications in terms of job creation, providing low-carbon energy and keeping our streets clean and tidy. The Mayor is committed to promoting and supporting the key role Londoners have to play in reducing, reusing and recycling their waste, and the central role of the public and private sector in delivering effective management and infrastructure solutions.

To make sure the Mayor is doing everything he can to support this please take five minutes to look at the public consultation pages and tell us what you think. If you give us your email address you will be able to see how we are responding to your thoughts and we will update you when there is more information online for you to comment on – there won’t be any spam.

If your organisation would like to respond to either of these strategies please tell us what you think by completing either the municipal web questionnaire, and/or the business web questionnaire which summarise the policies and allow you to make your comments in a structured way. Alternatively you can fill in either the municipal rtf or business rtf files or respond by letter emailing to viewsonwaste@london.gov.uk, or returning by post to:
