Climate Change Adaptation Strategy

Taxis and buses need to be designed so that when they are stationary with their engines running they are not polluting the environment.  If they had solar panels to provide heat and enough power for the radio then I assume that the drivers would not have to sit with the engine running whilst eating their lunch, reading a paper or waiting for colleagues and customers.  The best deal would be if they weren't using fuel that was creating damage altogether (diesel is especially damaging so why do taxis use it?-yes money I know !).  I live just on the border between the congestion zone and my daughter and I really feel (in our lungs) the polluting effects of the traffic jams on the Euston road.  I would love to see the congestion charge extended to the extent of no cars being admitted into Central London at all.  We need radical change to make a positive impact on the environment and it seems no politican has yet had the strength and bravery to make those changes (apart from Ken and the congestion charge).  We have to have less traffic on the road so people (children especially) feel safe to cycle!!
