One Step Back

Instead of spending millions of taxpayers money on some busted theories, get some independents in to assess the evidence first. Few of the scientists who are "experts" are actually qualified in anything to do with climate. Most of it would appear to be physics on a grand scale. So eminent physicists would seem best to form the panel. Keep anyone who relies on Global Warming for a living out of it.If Global Warming, Climate Change, carbon burning, or whatever next they want to pontificate about is irrefutably happening, they should then be able to quantify it and decide the necessary measures to  take. There is currently too much uncertainty to justify the spending envisiged and the carbon cuts supposedly required to mitigate what may well be beyond our capabilities. This is not a "do nothing" suggestion, merely a request to look at the facts as they are, not what people want us to think. If, after the investigation, we believe that we can then do something, fine: if we can't, we have time to move people to higher ground and issue shorts and suncream with the money saved by not doing what these people say.Personally, I don't believe a word of their scare stories and believe it is one huge conspiracy aimed at keeping thousands of people in work till they retire and to fleece the general public of every last bit of spare cash we have. That probably means I'm not best placed to be on the investigating panel. I'm not a physicist either (but I know a scam when I see one). In the old days, it would be have been called SNAKE OIL.......How much money has this website wasted? You'd be better of asking people how to save all forms of energy. They are better at it than any government, or public service dept.

Youve hit the nail on the head Glennewen, all the scaremongering has produced what i like to call "the headless chicken syndrome",
whereas certain types have been whipped up into a frenzied panic & getting sucked into this vortex of dubious predictions without one iota of knowledge of climate science,
the constant use of the term "carbon" is a prime example, carbon is a solid matter which is dark grey in colour & not a gas, the terminology is used to deliberately deceive as people associate carbon as a dirty dust type matter such as what you get from a pencil,
if it was explained by the powers that be that Co2 is essential to all living things & promotes plant growth & help the starving in 3rd world countries then people might realise its not a bad thing after all,
not once have i heard this explained by the likes of Miliband or any others involved for that matter, nor the fact that heat creates Co2 & not vise versa,
but then this wouldnt promote the "headless chicken" effect which is what they desire & are reliant on to keep this very dubious concept on the rails.

How silly of me: I've just read the FAQs......

Q6: What will happen to my idea once the consultation is finished?
A6: The best ideas will be included in the final climate change adaptation strategy. We will be using the thumbs up or thumbs down ratings given to ideas by users to help us pick the best ones.

They obviously won't select something that doesn't actually cost much, or might be popular.

Boris, I'm not afraid to agree with your green roofs suggestion, lets see if you are really a democrat at heart........

I always wonder why we need to hire "experts" to assess the data for us. There are such experts all over the place, and in my opinion, it is very easy to find one that will totally agree with your point of view.
Why don't we spend a bit of time thinking about these issues ourselves and suggest some things that can be done. We don't need to spend tons of money, and many years, before we can act.
Reality is that the Earth's climate is changing - this winter has been a good example not just here in the UK but elsewhere around the world.
I appreciate Boris Johnson asking Londoners what they think rather than going to external "experts" to tell us what we need.
