About the visits
The education visits take place in one of the committee rooms at City Hall. They usually last around 2 hours, are suitable for all students aged 7 and above and are designed to:
- Enthuse young Londoners about their city in and interesting and fun way
- Explain the roles and responsibilities of the GLA, Mayor of London and London Assembly
- Encourage discussion and debate about London issues
- Encourage young people to get involved
This academic year the visits will also have a London 2012 Olympics theme, where your students will learn about:
- London’s unique place in the history of the modern Olympic movement
- Different ways to get involved in London 2012
- The legacy of the games
The visit includes a PowerPoint presentation, a selection of short video clips including a message from the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, a quiz and lots of opportunities for questions and discussions!
The visits assume no prior knowledge of the GLA but can be tailored to suit your group.
Unfortunately we are unable to guarantee a tour of City Hall as part of the visit, as access to areas of the building is dependant on meetings and events taking place in the building on the day.
