Meet Oana - our Team London Star
5 DECEMBER 2011
Here at City Hall, we’re looking to learn more about the many Londoners who volunteer on a regular basis, helping friends, neighbours, relatives and their local community, to make a real difference.
Throughout November and December, you’ll be seeing a number of our Team London Stars in a campaign on tube posters, the internet and in newspapers. We’ve also invited some of these stars to tell their stories on the City Hall Blog.

Oana – Helps charities grow
I’m Oana Munteanu and I volunteer as a PR Account Executive for Bright One.
Bright One is an agency run entirely by volunteers that offers affordable, effective communications and PR campaigns to the not-for-profit sector.
I started volunteering with Bright One in March this year and have been working on two different projects, The DoNation – a sponsorship platform that replaces cash with environmental actions and the Wig Party – an annual charity event devoted to improving the life of those living with HIV and AIDS.
As a volunteer for Bright One, I usually go to meetings with the other members of my project team and the client. After the client briefs us about the type of PR work they want, we brainstorm and come back with a PR strategy specifically designed for them. If the client is happy with the plan, we then assign tasks to each team member and work on them either individually or in groups to deliver the PR strategy.
My motivation behind my voluntary work is my passion for PR, so I really enjoy what I’m doing. I help organisations which wouldn’t afford PR advice otherwise and it helps me develop professionally at the same time. What could be better than that?
My biggest achievement during my voluntary work, apart from being a Team London Star, was when I read a very nice article about my client in a magazine that I had pitched the story to. These moments of satisfaction are the most rewarding.
