Introducing the Team London Stars

8 NOVEMBER 2011

I’m Lizzie Noel, the Mayor's Advisor for Social Action and Volunteering. I am leading his Team London initiative to boost volunteering in the capital and increase its effectiveness by directing efforts to areas of identified need.

Team London stars was launched in June this year. With the support of our media partner, Archant London 24, hundreds of Londoners have nominated their volunteering stars for a Team London certificate of recognition, and thanks from the Mayor.

Here at City Hall, we’ve been inspired to learn more about the many Londoners who volunteer regularly, helping friends, neighbours, relatives and their local community, to make a real difference. That’s why we have decided to share some of their stories more widely, and throughout November and December, you’ll be seeing a number of our Team London Stars in an advertising campaign on Tube posters, the internet and in newspapers.

I have also invited some of these stars to tell their stories on the City Hall Blog, so that Londoners can get an insight into the volunteering work they do, why they do it as well what they have been getting up to recently.

Stay tuned for our first Team London Star blog.

I am about to launch a community initiative and am very interested in how I can work with the GLA and other agencies to deliver much needed help in London. I have 18 years Social sector experience and also volunteer on Board of Directors for STEP Primary Academy. We can do this together!! Come on Boris/Lizzie- get in touch...
