Register of Members' Interests

Explanation of Register Categories

The following is explanatory text given to Members when they complete their entry for the Register of Interests.

1(a)(i) I am a member of or hold a position of general control or management of the following body/ies to which I have been appointed or nominated by the Authority e.g. any outside body to which you are appointed by the Mayor or Assembly (including functional bodies) but do not include Authority Committees.

1(a)(ii)(aa) I am a member of or hold a position of general control or management of the following body/bodies exercising functions of a public nature e.g. Health Authority/PCT, Higher Education Establishment, other Councils, school governing bodies.

1(a)(ii)(bb) I am a member of or hold a position of general control or management of the following body/ies directed to charitable purposes.

1(a)(ii)(cc) I am a member of or hold a position of general control or management of the following body/ies whose principal purposes include the influence of public opinion or policy e.g. political party or trade union.

1(a)(iii) Nature of any employment/self-employment/or business

1(a)(iv) Name(s) of my employer(s) or name of the people who have appointed me to work for them

1(a)(v) Name(s) of person(s)/or body(ies) (other than the GLA or another relevant Authority) who has/have made any payment to me in respect of my election or any expenses incurred by me in carrying out my duties e.g. sponsorship.

1(a)(vi) Name(s) of any person or body/ies having a place of business or land in the Authority's area, and in which I have a beneficial interest in a class of securities of that person or body/those bodies that exceeds the nominal value of Ł25,000, or one hundredth of the total issued share capital of that person or body/those bodies (whichever is the lower).

1(a)(vii) Description of any contract for goods, services or works made between the Authority and myself or a firm in which I am a partner, a company of which I am a remunerated director, or a person or body of the description specified in (a)(vi) above.

1(a)(viii) Any gifts or hospitality I have received from any person which has an estimated value of Ł25 or more.

1(a)(ix) Address or other description (sufficient to identify the location) of any land in which I have a beneficial interest and which is in the area of the Authority (including your own home).

Please note that although Members are required (except in exceptional circumstances) to include their home addresses (if they own their own home) in the Register of interests, the GLA does not include the home addresses of Members on the GLA web site. The web entry will therefore only include the Members borough of residence. The GLA's Legal Team hold the paper copies of the Registers provided by Members, and where addresses have been provided by Members these can be found on the paper copies. 1(a)(x) Address or other description (sufficient to identify the location) of any land where the landlord is the Greater London Authority and the tenant is me or a firm in which I am a partner, a company of which I am a remunerated director, or a person or body of the description specified in (a) (vi) above.

Please note that although Members are required (except in exceptional circumstances) to include such addresses in the Register of interests, the GLA does not include these addresses on the GLA web site. The web entry will therefore only include the name of the borough where this address is located. The GLA's Legal Team hold the paper copies of the Registers provided by Members, and where addresses have been provided by Members these can be found on the paper copies. 1(a)(xi) Address or other description (sufficient to identify the location) of any land in the Authority’s area in which I have a licence (alone or jointly with others) to occupy for 28 days or longer.

Please note that although Members are required (except in exceptional circumstances) to include such addresses in the Register of interests, the GLA does not include these addresses on the GLA web site. The web entry will therefore only include the name of the borough where this address is located. The GLA's Legal Team hold the paper copies of the Registers provided by Members, and where addresses have been provided by Members these can be found on the paper copies. Sensitive information

Where I consider that any of the information required to be registered is sensitive information (because its availability for public inspection creates or is likely to create a serious risk for me or, a person who lives with me may be subject to violence or intimidation) I must contact the Monitoring Officer and get her agreement that this information does not have to be included. This also applies to additional interests and/or changes to my Register of Interests. If sensitive information that has been excluded is no longer sensitive, I must add this information to my form within 28 days of becoming aware of this.
