1. Apologies for Absence and Chair’s Announcements

To receive any apologies for absence and any announcements from the Chair.

2. Declarations of Interests

The Committee is recommended to:

  1. Note the list of memberships of functional bodies and London Borough Councils, as set out in the table at Item 2;
  2. Note gifts and hospitality received by Members, as set out on the Authority’s gifts and hospitality register; and
  3. Declare any other personal or personal prejudicial interests in specific items listed on the agenda over and above those items listed in the table at Item 2 and including any interests arising from gifts or hospitality received since 12 September 2007 or, if elected after 12 September 2007, from the date of election to the London Assembly which are not at the time of this meeting reflected on the Authority’s register of gifts and hospitality.

3. Standing Delegations

The Committee is recommended to note the following standing delegation as noted by the Annual Meeting of the Assembly on 6 May 2009:

On 11 July 2007, the Health and Public Services Committee resolved:

That the Committee delegate a general authority to the Chair, following consultation with the lead Members of the party groups on the Committee, to respond on its behalf where it is consulted on issues by organisations and there is insufficient time to consider the consultation at a Committee meeting.

4. Minutes

The Committee is recommended to confirm the minutes of the meetings of the Health and Public Services Committee held on 23 April and 6 May 2009 to be signed by the Chair as correct records.

5. Summary List of Actions

Report of the Executive Director of Secretariat

The Committee is recommended to note the action arising from the meeting of the Health and Public Services Committee on 23 April 2009.

6. Violence against Women

Report of the Executive Director of Secretariat.

The Committee is recommended to

(a) note the report and ask questions of the following invited guests:

  • Kit Malthouse AM
  • Ron Belgrave, Community Safety Manager, GLA
  • Yeliz Osman, Senior Performance and Project Officer, GLA
  • Commander Mark Simmons, Metropolitan Police Service
  • Representative of London Councils
  • Councillor Hayley Matthews - London Councils
(b) delegate authority to the Chair, in consultation with the other Members of the Committee, to agree the Committee’s response to the Mayor’s consultation on The Way Forward by the deadline of 31 July 2009.

7. Date of Next Meeting

The next scheduled meeting of the Committee is to be held on 24 June 2009.
