1. Apologies for Absence and Chair’s Announcements
The Assembly will receive any apologies for absence and any announcements from the Chair.
2. Declarations of Interests
Recommendations:
- That the list of memberships of functional bodies and London Borough
Councils, as set out in the table at Item 3, be noted; and
- That all Members declare any other personal or personal prejudicial interests in specific items listed on the agenda over and above those items listed in the table at Item 3, including interests arising from any gifts or hospitality received since 12 September 2007
3. Minutes
Recommendation: That the minutes of the 18 June 2008 (Mayor’s Question Time) London Assembly meeting be confirmed as an accurate record to be signed by the Chair.
4. Petition
Report of the Executive Director of Secretariat
Recommendation: To note the petition listed in the report and consider how to respond.
5. Question and Answer Session: Tim Parker, Ray Lewis and Kit Malthouse AM
Part A: The Assembly will put questions to Tim Parker, First Deputy Mayor and Chief Executive of the GLA Group, on his role and priorities.
Part B: The Assembly will put questions to Ray Lewis, Deputy Mayor, Young People and Opportunities, on his role and priorities.
Part C: The Assembly will put questions to Kit Malthouse AM, Deputy Mayor, Policing, on his role and priorities.
Part D: The Assembly will debate the following motion submitted in the name of the Chair: "That the Assembly notes the answers to the questions asked."
6. Confirmation Hearings Committee: Action Taken Under Delegated Authority
Report of the Executive Director of Secretariat
Recommendations: That the Assembly notes:
- The recent actions taken by the Chair of the Assembly, Jennette Arnold AM, under delegated authority, namely to hold a confirmation hearing in relation to the proposed appointment to the office of Chair of Transport for London (TfL) on 25 June 2008 and request that the Mayor’s candidate for appointment produce documents relating to his proposed appointment; and
- The Confirmation Hearings Committee’s decision to recommend that the Mayor should proceed with his proposed appointment to the office of Chair of Transport for London (TfL)
7. Consultation on Appointments to the Board of the London Development Agency
Recommendations: That the Assembly notes:
- The attached letter, dated 18 June 2008, from the Mayor to the Chair of the Assembly consulting the Assembly on the proposed appointment of Tim Parker and Steven Norris to the Board of the London Development Agency; and
- The attached letter, dated 25 June 2008, from the Chair of the Assembly’s Economic Development, Culture, Sport and Tourism Committee setting out the Assembly’s response to that consultation
8. Motion
Report of the Executive Director of Secretariat
Recommendation: That the Assembly considers the motion submitted by an Assembly Member.
9. Date of Next Meeting
To note that the next meeting of the London Assembly (Mayor’s Question Time) will be held on Wednesday 16 July 2008 at 10.00am in the Chamber, City Hall.
10. Any Other Business the Chair Considers Urgent
Interim Response from the London
Development Agency to the Assembly’s
Interim Statement of Concern re LDA Grants
The Assembly issued an Interim
Statement of Concerns regarding London Development Agency (LDA) grants
in March 2008. The Chairman of the LDA has now written to the Chair of the
Assembly to provide an interim response to that statement. The letter and
interim response are attached. The Assembly’s Interim Statement of Concerns is also attached
as background information.
Recommendation: That the Assembly notes the London
Development Agency’s Interim Response to the Assembly’s Interim
Statement of Concern regarding London Development Agency grants.
