Climate Change Mitigation and Energy Strategy
In October 2011, the Mayor published the final Delivering London’s Energy Future: The Mayor’s climate change mitigation and energy strategy.
In developing the strategy, the Mayor consulted widely. In 2010 he consulted the London Assembly and GLA group, followed by a wider public and stakeholder consultation which closed in early 2011.
The Assembly and GLA group consultation
From February 2010 to April 2010 the Mayor consulted the London Assembly and wider GLA group (Transport for London, the London Development Agency, the Metropolitan Police Authority and the London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority). The Mayor responded to them in October 2010.
The strategy documents were also available on this website, with a questionnaire for stakeholders and the public. Alongside this, as part of the public consultation on the Mayor’s Climate Change Adaptation Strategy, an interactive consultation website was set up. Over 70 energy and climate change mitigation comments were received. The responses were considered in the strategy’s development and some were reflected in the final version.

The public consultation
From October 2010 to January 2011 the Mayor consulted with the wider public. Strategy documents and consultation questionnaires were available on this website. This allowed the public and stakeholders to comment on the strategy policies, and in particular, policies on retrofitting homes. Over 200 responses were received.
As well as this, just before the public consultation on the strategy, the Mayor carried out a telephone poll of 1,002 Londoners. The poll included questions on retrofitting homes with energy efficiency measures and low carbon microgeneration technologies.
The responses to the public consultation were considered in the development of the final strategy. The Consultation Report below summarises the main themes and issues from the consultation, provides a response to these issues from the GLA, and describes any resulting changes to the strategy.
